Monument Signage
A Complex Problem
In master-planned communities, the entrance sign is more than just a marker, it’s an introduction. But balancing visual impact with budget constraints can be a real challenge. Many developers want something that feels custom and memorable, yet still fits within tight project budgets. Without thoughtful design and smart material choices, signage can either feel too generic or become cost-prohibitive.
A Simple Solution
For the community of Heartland in Cochrane, Alberta, Hi Signs collaborated with Rohit Communities to deliver a value-engineered entrance feature that didn’t sacrifice visual appeal. Inspired by the surrounding natural beauty, we designed a dimensional monument using faux corten steel with precision knockout silhouettes of a mountain range. This approach created depth and texture while keeping the structure cost-effective. The signage was constructed using durable, outdoor-grade materials and intentionally left non-illuminated to minimize long-term operating costs while blending naturally with the landscape.
The Result
The finished monument feels right at home in Cochrane’s stunning foothills. Its warm tones and mountain-inspired profile echo the visual identity of the region and create an immediate sense of arrival. This sign proves that strong community branding doesn’t have to come at a high cost. With the right design and material strategy, it’s possible to build something beautiful, resilient, and financially responsible. Heartland’s entrance feature stands as a reminder that great design can meet both form and function without compromise.
