A Complex Problem

AUPE’s new headquarters in Edmonton, designed by Next Architecture, required effective signage solutions to reflect its prominent role as a labor union for public sector workers in Alberta. The challenge was to install illuminated building signage that not only enhanced the visibility of the AUPE brand, especially during the night and in low-light conditions but also directed vehicular traffic effectively at this centrally located building between two major roadways.
 

A Simple Solution

Hi Signs collaborated with Bird Construction to address these requirements. The solution involved creating shop drawings and managing permit applications for both monument and building signage. Special attention was given to the foundation and engineering of the monument signage to ensure durability and stability. The team then proceeded with the fabrication and installation of the signage, utilizing high-quality materials and illumination techniques to maximize visibility and impact.
 

The Result

The illuminated building signage at AUPE’s headquarters has significantly boosted the union’s brand visibility and professional appearance. Strategically placed at the top of the building and designed to be visible from two prominent roadways, the signage offers consistent brand recognition, day and night. The entrance feature also effectively directs vehicular traffic, enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the headquarters.
