EGD/XGD Placemaking Signage
The Banff Gondola is a popular tourist attraction located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. Cable cars take visitors from all over the world to the top of Sulphur Mountain, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and lakes. Visitors can explore the interpretive centre, dine at a restaurant, or go on a guided hike. Hi Signs and Banff Sign Company provided arrival signage, building signs, and placemaking graphics to help efficiently guide visitors from parking to ticket purchases. We worked closely with the client and Evans Hunt to bring this visual transformation to life.
Environmental graphic design (EGD) nor experiential graphic design (XGD) are types of graphic design focused on creating interactive and immersive experiences for the user. It combines design elements such as typography, images, colours, and textures to create a sensory and emotional response in the viewer. For many people, a gondola ride is unlike anything they’ve ever experienced. The goal of experiential graphic design is to create a memorable and meaningful experience for the viewer that transcends traditional graphic design and engages all of the senses.
Task
Fabricate and install all interior wayfinding and placemaking graphics at the base building and within the mountain top interpretive centre.
